Join Our Team

You can make a difference in the lives of the people of Haiti with more than just your money. You can invest your time, dedication, and skills to help them. Even though our goal is to improve the medical infrastructure in Haiti, we are looking for more than just medical professionals. We need coordinators, organizers, marketers, tech professionals, and many others to help with our cause. If you have the drive and willingness to help the people of Haiti who are desperately in need of assistance, or if you want to help us in our efforts to help the underserved communities in New York navigate the healthcare system, please reach out. We will put your time and energy to the best possible use.

Healthcare

Proper healthcare is the basic right of every human being, but unfortunately, almost 40% of Haitians don’t have access to essential healthcare. This problem manifests more strongly when a disaster strikes. We aim to rectify that problem by building a resilient healthcare infrastructure in Haiti.

Emergency

We are working on creating an efficient emergency response system for Haiti. This requires communication solutions that may survive a disaster like an earthquake, vehicles capable of reaching people in need of emergency medical assistance, and a team of professionals ready to respond.

Relief Program

A significant segment of the population in Haiti is in constant need of short-term and long-term medical, food, and shelter assistance, even years after the disaster. Their survival and basic needs take precedence over rebuilding efforts, and we aim to prioritize our resources accordingly.

Natural Disasters

Our goal is to minimize the loss of life and prevent major injuries that can result in life-long disabilities in case of a natural disaster. This requires a far-reaching and well-equipped medical infrastructure that’s resilient enough to survive the disaster and remain viable to help the people of Haiti.

About

HEHDO

HEHDO is a nonprofit based in New York and Haiti that aims to help both communities (and a few others) with their healthcare needs. In New York, HEHDO is focused on helping members of underserved communities navigate the healthcare system and get access to the medical care they need. In Haiti, the scope of our work is far more extensive.

We aim to improve the healthcare infrastructure of Haiti, to help the country fight its ever-present health crises while preparing it to face future natural disasters with fewer casualties and injuries. A resilient healthcare infrastructure ready to respond to medical emergencies that stem from a natural disaster can prevent thousands of lives lost and injuries from turning into disabilities.

Our team is made up of a wide variety of professionals, especially healthcare professionals, with extensive disaster recovery experience. Many of our members are of Haitian descent and can integrate into the society for better, more intrinsic solutions to Haiti’s medical problems.

What We Do?

right-divider
We help people who wish for a more permanent solution to Haiti’s problems donate to the right causes. We assist people of New York from low socio-economic backgrounds that have trouble accessing the healthcare facilities and professionals they need to navigate the system. We are assisting the people of Haiti in building and sustaining a healthcare infrastructure that can survive natural disasters and serve the devastated communities when they are most desperately in need. We are educating, equipping, training, and helping the people of Haiti build a community that’s better prepared to survive natural disasters and take responsibility for rebuilding.
